![]() The standard version of Monopoly is a wildly inaccurate portrayal of capitalism, as the Landlord’s Game was before it, so the socialism version being a wildly inaccurate portrayal of socialism is just same old same old really. It’s clearly based on the old Thatcher bit “the problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money”. It was pretty explicitly trying to mock socialism, not promote it. I will take back aspects of my criticism if they are doing more than just marketing. Does it is really mean anything? Again this is from the prospective of a company, I think it is entirely different as an individual, charity, or other organizations.īecause in the end Hasboro is just making money and this is a marketing campaign. And not doing anything special for firefighters on that day. Monopoly is like a company having having a "Firefighter Appreciation" day along with having 30 other days such as talk like a pirate day. I think there is so much more they can do. ![]() And mechanics based off inventions or ideas that historical women created. With some creative mechanics you can make games based off a theme that help educate player. Hire a female designer to make a new game (or completely rework the game like they did with some editions of risk), donate to a program to help empower women such as a fund to help encourage and pay for women going into STEM fields where they are often under represented, or simply use this game to educate in a creative way. In this case they could do one of the following. ![]() BUT IMO when your marketing a game in this way there is a ton you can do to actually help. Not every game or marketing campaign needs to donate, educate, or empower. My criticism is directed at the context of this. Let's empower women by releasing our game for the 100th time and through a little effort into empowerment for women. How many versions and editions of monopoly do we get a year? (this is directed at Hasboro not you). My complaint and criticism still is this is an empty gesture. He is a copy paste of a discussion I had with someone else about this game. Basically if it isn't satire it is just an empty gesture.īut I think it is mostly just woke marketing. r/tabletopgamedesign - Designer's subredditĪs I pointed out in a another thread.r/boardgameexchange - selling/buying/trading games.Game of the Week Calendar Related Sites & Subreddits The simplest use is to bold game names in your comment and add " /u/r2d8 getinfo" at the end of the post, but this post/sub has other features identified.
